Roshanda Overton – Connections Pastor (a.k.a. Chief People Wrangler, Holy Hug Distributor, and Director of “You’re Not Sitting Alone Today”)
If you’ve ever walked into Souls United and suddenly felt like you were at a family reunion you didn’t know you had—but somehow everyone already loves you—you can thank Roshanda Overton.
Roshanda is our Connections Pastor, which is a fancy church way of saying she has a spiritual gift for turning complete strangers into best friends before the second worship song. Seriously, if friendliness were an Olympic sport, she’d have more gold medals than a cereal box.
She has an uncanny ability to remember your name, your kids’ names, your dog’s name, and somehow your favorite snack—all within 3.5 minutes of meeting you. Scientists are still studying this phenomenon.
Roshanda believes no one should do life alone, which is why she’s constantly connecting people, building community, and occasionally recruiting you into a small group before you even realize what just happened. One minute you’re grabbing coffee… the next minute you’re signed up, hosting, and bringing snacks. It’s a gift. And maybe a little bit of a superpower.
When she’s not making sure every person feels seen, known, and loved, she’s probably:
- Introducing two people who “just HAVE to meet”
- Solving problems you didn’t know you had
- Or making sure nobody escapes the lobby without at least one meaningful conversation
Her heart is simple: make a big church feel small, make new people feel like family, and make sure nobody slips through the cracks (on her watch, that’s basically impossible).
So if you’re new—don’t worry. Roshanda already considers you part of the family.
